Philips Hue light firmware adds Matter 1.4.1 and adaptive lighting
Philips Hue has released software version 1.164.2 for its lights on hardware platform 100b-129. According to the Hue release notes dated 5 October 2026, the update adds support for Matter 1.4.1 and for Apple's adaptive lighting over Matter, which lets lights shift their colour temperature automatically during the day.
The same release adds support for using Zigbee and Matter at the same time when the lights run in bridgeless mode, alongside general bug fixes and stability improvements. The release notes identify the affected lights only by hardware platform version and do not name individual models.
The update is delivered through the Hue app, and Philips Hue recommends turning on automatic updates under Settings, Software update. The release notes do not mention a rollout schedule or any regional restrictions.
