Apple has announced the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K. For the smart home, it is a home hub that lets you control Apple Home accessories and scenes from anywhere and run automations, and it supports guest mode and local processing of HomeKit Secure Video. Apple confirms built-in Wi-Fi and Thread, so the box can connect to and control Thread accessories directly.

New in this generation are built-in far-field microphones, which let you control accessories and turn scenes on or off by voice without picking up the remote. Apple notes that far-field Siri support varies by region and language. With a compatible video doorbell, notifications appear on the TV, where you can see who is at the door, talk to them and control other accessories, such as unlocking the door. The redesigned Siri Remote adds Find My support.

Apple announced the Apple TV 4K on 13 October 2026. Pre-orders opened that day in the US and 29 other countries and regions, including Ireland and Germany, and the box goes on sale on 13 November 2026.
